How Butterfly Valves Work?

A butterfly valve controls flow using a circular disc mounted inside the valve body. Rotating the disc by 90 degrees moves the valve between its open and closed positions. When fully open, the disc remains within the flow path while allowing media to pass through the valve. Its simple construction provides quick operation and allows butterfly valves to be installed in systems where larger or heavier valve designs may not be practical.
